Frequently Asked Questions

What are the passport requirements that I should know about?

All guests traveling from the U.S. to the Dominican Republic need a valid passport. Please check your passport now to ensure it is valid through at least January 8-10, 2027 (6 months after your expected arrival in the DR on July 8–10, 2026).

If your passport expires before that date, you’ll need to renew it before the trip. We recommend taking care of this early, as passport processing times can take several weeks or months.

Can I bring a guest/date?

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate additional guests. Due to limited capacity, we can only allow the people named on your save the date/invitation. Your save the date/invitation will be made out to "{Your Name} & Guest" if a plus one has been given to you.

Is it possible to change the guest or date associated with my save the date/invitation?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate changes to the any guests or dates. We’ve thoughtfully curated our guest list to include the people we truly wish to share this special day with, and we appreciate your understanding.

If I’m flying into Santo Domingo, how do I get to Las Terrenas? Will there be a shuttle or do I need to book a driver?

If you’re flying into Santo Domingo (Las Américas International Airport – SDQ), you’ll need to arrange transportation to Las Terrenas, which is about a 1.5 to 2-hour drive. While we won’t be providing a group shuttle from this airport, we recommend booking a private driver or shuttle service in advance for comfort and ease.

You can also inquire with your hotel, as many offer transportation options for an additional fee.

IMPORTANT: If you prefer to rent a car, we recommend choosing a flight that arrives in the early morning so you can make the drive during daylight hours. Please do not drive to Las Terrenas during the nighttime.

We’ll be sharing recommended transportation companies on the site soon!

What is the currency in the Dominican Republic? Where should I exchange money?

The official currency in the Dominican Republic is the Dominican Peso (DOP). While U.S. dollars are accepted, it’s best to have pesos on hand for local shops, restaurants, and transportation.

We recommend exchanging money at the airport upon arrival or using a local ATM to withdraw pesos, which often provides a favorable exchange rate. Currency exchange services are also available at banks and some hotels in Las Terrenas.

How does tipping work in the Dominican Republic?

Yes, tipping is customary and appreciated in the Dominican Republic, especially in the service and hospitality industries. While some establishments include a 10% service charge on the bill, it’s common to leave a little extra for great service.

Here are a few general guidelines:

• Restaurants: 10–15% if a service charge isn’t already included

• Hotel staff (bellhops, housekeeping): $1–$3 USD per service

• Drivers or shuttle services: $5–$10 USD, depending on the distance

• Tour guides: $5–$10 USD per person

Both U.S. dollars and Dominican pesos are accepted for tips
